J. W. Bussert's parents, Adam and Hannah, came from Fairfield County, in 1834. Their children are Nancy, Elizabeth, Jane and John. His wife is a daughter of David S. and Terzah Young, who came from Fairfield County, in 1835, and whose children are Rachel Ann, Elmer, Margaret, Sarah and Caroline. Mr. and Mrs. Bussert are both natives of Allen County. He was born Oct. 25, 1836--she, Jan. 20, 1844. The residence of Mr. B.'s father was burned down in 1850, all contents destroyed. The old log house in which Mr. B. was born was so low that adult persons were compelled to stoop in walking through the room. When a boy, had to go fifty miles to mill, and sometimes obliged to wait for the grist six or seven days.
