Jacob L. Baker


Jacob L. Baker is the son of John D. and Catharine Baker, who had ten children--Jacob, Parker, Addison, Eliza, Amos, Maria, Michael, Catharine, Isaac and Sarah. His wife is Margaret, daughter of Flamman and Elizabeth Miller, whose children are George, Clarissa, Melinda and Margaret. Mr. Baker was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, Jan. 25, 1814, and came to Allen County, in 1837. His wife was born in Fairfield County, on the 25th of Dec., 1827. They have eleven children--Henry M., Catharine L., Rebecca J., John N., Malvina A., Andrew M., James L., Jacob M., Mary Jane, George and Michael A. Catharine is the wife of Allen Clem, and lives in Kansas. Rebecca was married to Henry Binkley, and lives in this township. John married Mary E. Doud, and lives in this township. Mrs. Baker has two children by a former marriage--Mary Funk and Aaron Sites. Mr. B.'s mother came to this county in 1864. In 1852 Mr. Baker's tobacco house was destroyed by fire. No insurance.
