Thomas McElwain, attorney-at-law, is the son of William and Maria C. McElwain, nee Nye, who were born in Kentucky. Our subject was born July 24, 1843, in Washington. He attended the public schools of that place until the war broke out, when he volunteered as a private in Company A, 1st Ohio Cavalry, served three years, and was honorably discharged. After his return home, he was married to Miss Lydia K. Davis, in 1867, since which he has continued in the practice of law in the place of his nativity.
