Martin Rausch

Democratic Candidate for Treasurer

Born in Darby township, Union county, in 1865, of German parentage, is the first chapter in the life of our subject. He received a common school education, which was supplemented by much practical home training that has been of incalculable value to him as a farmer and business man. He was united in marriage to Miss Lillie Blumenschein, Feb. 28, 1889. The couple began life's battles by locating on a farm in Darby township, Madison county, March 6, of the same year.

Mr. Rausch, by careful management, has been able to purchase the farm, on which he still resides and which he has greatly improved.

Mr. Rausch has won the esteem of his fellow farmers and as a mark fo their confidence he was elected in 1903 to the office of trustee of the township on a ticket hopelessly in the minority. He was elected a second term last fall by a handsome majority. He is also connected with other organizations, partnership, etc. Mr. Rausch, following the influence of his early training, is a firm believer in that book of all books, the Bible, and his life compares well with his profession. He is one of the founders of the church at Chuckery and fills the important office of elder in the same. A community of such citizens as Mr. Rausch is a good one in which to find a home.

He is a safe, conservative man and should be elected Treasurer of Madison county.
