Peter Snider

Mr. Peter Snider made us a visit the other day, and in talking over old times we learned that he hailed from Mansfield, Ohio, and settled in this county in the spring of 1871, thus making him one of our old settlers. When he landed here he was a poor man with only a few dollars in his pocket, but by hard work and honest dealings with his fellow man has been successful in securing much of this world's goods to the amount of several thousand dollars. He served three years in the war, went in a Democrat, came out a Democrat and has been a Democrat ever since. And by faithfulness to his party, especially at a time when there were only a handful of Democrats in this county, a Democratic sheriff was elected -- Henry Litts -- after which the party took on strength and has been successful in electing many Democrats to office since that time. Mr. Snider is one of our most respected citizens, a good Democratic worker and numbers his friends in this county by the score.
